Renata Receives Licence for Second Manufacturing Site
The Directorate of Drug Administration has approved Renata’s new 17-acre manufacturing site in Rajendrapur. This site current has two factories, viz., Cephalosporin Facility and Penicillin Facility.
The original 12-acre site in Mirpur would continue to be in operation.
Prazole Available in Hong Kong pharmacies from April
Prazole (omeprazole) 20mg capsule has been registered in Hong Kong. The first consignment shall be shipped in April 2009. Prazole is the latest addition to the Hong Kong portfolio which consists of six products, viz., Emcon (Levonorgestrel), Thyrox (Thyroxin), Ostan (Losartan), Mepid (Glimepiride), Fenadin 120 & 180mg tablet (Fexofenadin).

Ovulet (Clomiphene Citrate) 50 mg tablet has been registered in the Philippines. The product shall be available in pharmacies across the Philippines from April 2009. Earlier, five other products, viz., Eurolac tablet (Ketorolac), Eurolev (Thyroxin) tablet, Hypergo (Perindopril) tablet, Euroflam 100 & 200 mg (celecoxib) were registered.

Both UNICEF and the Social Marketing Company (SMC) have placed better than expected orders for Sprinkles. The bulk of the deliveries shall take place in the beginning of 2008.

UNICEF has approved the Renata Sachet Filling Facility at the Mirpur Site
UNICEF has approved the Renata Sachet Filling Facility at the Mirpur Site for the manufacture of ORS and Multi-Micronutrient Powder (5-Ingredient Sprinkles). An audit was carried out to this effect by UNICEF under WHO GMP guidelines (TRS 908).
This approval confers upon Renata the eligibility to bid in UNICEF tenders for ORS and Sprinkles.
Dividend Recomendation, Date of 34th AGM, etc
The Directors of the Company at a Board Meeting held on April 26, 2007 proposed Cash Dividend of Taka 50 per share and one bonus share for every five shares held.
This declaration will be subject to approval at the next Annual General Meeting of the Company to be held on June 16, 2007.
Renata will provide Technical Assistance to Al-Arabia Pharmaceutical Industries, Syria
Renata Limited will provide technical assistance to manufacture Hormone products for Al-Arabia Pharmaceutical Industries, Syria.
An agreement was signed to this effect to manufacture 6 Hormone products.
Renata will manufacturing Sprinkles for SMC
Renata Limited will manufacturing Sprinkles for Social Marketing Company(SMC). Sprinkles- an innovative approach to deliver micronutrients including iron, zinc, vitamins A, C and folic acid in a single-serve sachet, to address nutritional anemias in children.
An agreement to this effect was signed by Managing Director of SMC Ms. Perveen Rasheed and Syed S kaiser Kabir Managing Director of Renata Limited on January 04, 2007.
Four New Manufacturing Facilities Commissioned in 2006
Four new plants were commissioned in 2006. These are
(1) Potent Product Facility: A dedicated tablet facility for hormones and cytotoxic products. Product commenced earlier in 2006. Several of our hormone products are now market leaders.
(2) Sachet Filling Facility: The existing facility was modernised and expanded in the last quarter of 2006. This facility was designed to produce ORS, Sprinkles, and a small range of antibiotic formulations.
(3) Taste-Masking: Essentially constructed to taste-mask cephalosporin and macrolide bulk. Products expected by second half of 2007.
(4) Lyophilisation: This brand new facility will initially produce lyophilised proton-pump-inhibitors (PPIs). After evaluating market response to this new kind of formulation, the facility will be expanded to accommodate a wide-range of products.

Renata signed a Technology Transfer Agreement with Ped-Med Limited of Canada
Renata signed a Technology Transfer Agreement with Ped-Med Limited of Canada. Under this Agreement Ped-Med shall transfer the technology for manufacturing Sprinkles—- a novel vitamin-mineral supplement designed to combat anaemia in children.
Recently the Directorate of Drug Administration of Bangladesh granted Renata the necessary approvals to begin production of Sprinkles.
Several organisations, notably BRAC, Social Marketing Company, and Hellen Keller Institute have expressed an interest to have the product contract manufactured by Renata and market under their own brand.
Renata shall be participating at CPhI in Madrid
As part of a delegation of companies led by the Export Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh, Renata shall be participating at this year’s CPhI in Madrid. CPhI is an annual event, and also the most prestigious exhibition for generic pharmaceutical companies.
We shall be advertising our newly constructed Potent Product Facility at this Exhibition.

FIrst Half 2005 Results
ORS Plant - Sleepless at Renata
The ORS plant has been geared to run three shifts a day, seven days a week to meet the sudden hike in ORS requirement by BRAC and SMC to supply essential oral saline to the flood victims. Production is going on full swing and approximately 200,000 sachets of oral saline is being packed and distributed from the Renata plant everyday.
Renata Limited Enters Vietnam Pharmaceuticals Market
Renata is entering the Vietnam pharmaceuticals market with two products,Erythrox and Zithrin oral suspensions in association with MHI Company Ltd.based in Hanoi.
MHI Company has an experienced set of marketing staff and distributors across all provinces of Vietnam. The company specializes in retailing drugs at pharmacies.Their customer service and medical representatives visit the doctors, and organizes workshops to introduce new products to doctors at hospitals.
This Company employs 12 pharmacists and 30 medical representatives, and has a long-term marketing strategy aiming at developing the Vietnam market. Besides, the Company has representatives who cooperate with doctors in hospitals as coordinators & prescription clerks at retail shops to track movement of the products they market. The MHI staff is well supervised by professional business graduates.
Renata looks forward to grow the business through MHI in Vietnam by introducing new products and is actively pursuing the registration process of new molecules through the local partner.
Eskayef Renews Contract for Cephalosporin Formulations
Renata will continue to manufacture sterile cephalosporin formulations on behalf of Eskayef Bangladesh Limited. The Agreement was renewed on October 1, 2004.
The products covered by this Agreement are as follows:
Cephradine: 250 mg, 500 mg, and 1 gm
Ceftriaxone IV: 250 mg, 500 mg, and 1 gm
Ceftriaxone IM with Lidocaine: 250 mg, 500 mg, and 1 gm
Therapeutics to Manufacture Oral Liquid, Animal Health, and Penicillin Products on Behalf of Renata
Therapeutics Bangladesh Limited (TBL) will manufacture oral liquids, and oral dosage forms of animal health and penicillin products on behalf of Renata Limited. By virtue of this Agreement signed on October 14, 2004, the Mirpur plant will cease production of oral liquids, most oral forms of animal health products, and all oral formulations of penicillin. The resulting available space will be utilised to improve GMP and increase tablet production capabilities. In addition, there shall be a slight cost-saving due to this Agreement.
Goldshield Group PLC and Renata Limited Sign Confidentiality Agreement
Goldshield Group PLC (www.goldshieldplc.com) and Renata Limited signed a Confidentiality Agreement on October 5, 2004. This UK based company which is quoted on the London Stock Exchange has an extensive marketing and distribution network throughout Europe, USA, and many countries in the world. Under this Agreement, Goldshield shall share with Renata technical, regulatory, and commercial data related to certain products that it markets in various parts of the world.
Provided that Renata can develop world-class manufacturing facilities and products, this alliance with Goldshield could prove to be instrumental in accessing European pharmaceutical markets in the future.
Notwithstanding the importance of this Agreement, Renata shareholders should take note that accessing European markets involves lengthy and arduous procedures. There are several hurdles to cross, and this Agreement is but a mere step in that difficult journey.
